Thomas Harbin: Managing DirectorAs a Managing Director at Source Capital, LLC, Tom has been active in all aspects of the firm's investments and day-to-day operations. He currently serves as the Chairman of Sparus Holdings, Inc., Aerial Access Equipment, LLC, and Backyard Products, LLC. He serves as a Director of S&S Industries, Inc., SurfTech, LLC, Pickaway Plains Ambulance Company, Inc. & ProCare EMS, LLC. Prior to founding Source Capital, Tom worked as an Investment Professional for J.H. Whitney & Co. (San Francisco office), a New York-based private equity firm with over $5 billion in assets under management. He identified and executed investments in the $5-20 million range for early and mid-stage companies in both the U.S. and overseas. While working at Whitney, Tom also served as Head of Business Development for PowerBand Communications, a Whitney portfolio company located in Tokyo, Japan. Prior to Whitney, Tom worked in the leveraged finance group at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York where he focused on acquisition finance, leveraged recapitalizations, corporate divestitures, and LBOs. He earned his B.A. in Economics, with distinction, from the University of Virginia. | |||
Katherine Harbin: Managing DirectorAs a Managing Director at Source Capital, Kate has been active in all aspects of the firm's investments and day-to-day operations. She currently serves as the Chairman of Surf Technicians, LLC and S&S Industries, Inc. and as a Director of Aerial Access Equipment, LLC, Backyard Products, LLC and Sparus Holdings, Inc. Prior to joining Source Capital, Kate worked as a Principal for Accel-KKR, a technology-focused private equity investment firm founded by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and Accel Partners. Prior to that, Kate worked as an Associate at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB), where she focused on early-stage investments in information technology and media. Prior to KPCB, Kate spent over two years at Sandler Capital Management, a Media and Communications-focused investment firm. Kate began her career as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, where she focused on turnarounds and growth strategy. Kate received her M.B.A. from Stanford's Graduate School of Business and received her B.A., with honors, from Princeton University. | ||||
Chad Riedel: Managing DirectorAs a Managing Director at Source Capital, Chad has been active in all aspects of the firm's investments and day-to-day operations. He currently serves as a Director of Surf Technicians, LLC, S&S Industries, Inc. and Sparus Holdings, Inc. Prior to joining Source Capital, Chad was the General Manager of North America and Latin America for MeadWestvaco Packaging Systems, a division of MeadWestvaco (MWV), with responsibility for $530M in revenues and 1,300 employees operating in 12 countries. Prior to his general management role, Chad led the business development function for the division, and was in charge of developing and executing the division's long-term growth strategy, including oversight of global marketing and global technology. His broad functional experience in manufacturing, sales, engineering and planning during his 14 years with MWV has contributed to his ability to lead at all levels. Prior to MWV, Chad was a Process Control Engineer in the Aircraft Engines Business Group and a Manufacturing Systems Analyst in the Major Appliances Business Group of The General Electric Company. Chad received his M.B.A. from Harvard University and a B.S., cum laude, in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Ohio State University. Andrew Mathes: Senior AssociatePrior to joining Source Capital, Andy worked as an Associate in investment banking for JP Morgan where he focused on mergers and acquisitions, leveraged finance, private placements and public offerings across a range of industries. In his five years of investment banking experience, Andy completed more than 15 transactions totaling nearly $3 billion in transaction value. Previously, Andy was an Associate in investment banking for Morgan Keegan & Company and an Analyst for Jefferies & Company. Andy received his Bachelor of Business Administration with concentration in Finance from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. | ||||
Thomas van der Meulen: Operating PartnerThomas is a highly experienced operator and turn-around executive and he currently is CEO for two Source-Capital portfolio businesses, Backyard Products in Detroit and Airworx in Indianapolis . Prior to Source Capital, Thomas was President and CEO of Karcher USA, the US subsidiary of the German based cleaning equipment company Karcher GmbH, where he doubled sales to $90 million in two years selling to the Big Box retail channel. Before Karcher, Thomas was a Division President for Playcore, where he completed a successful turn around of the $70 million Heartland Industries division, which is currently a division of Backyard Products. At Heartland, Thomas simultaneously grew sales to the Home Center Channel from $3 to $25 million while consolidating seven individual manufacturing centers into one. Before running Heartland, Thomas was Division President for Royal Ten Cate, where he managed a building products division, organically growing sales by over 400% in 5 years. Thomas started his career with Royal Ten Cate in Mergers and Acquisitions, completing eight transactions, and growing the US operations to $150 million in sales. He received his MBA from the University of Georgia and earned his B.A. in Business Administration at Nijenrode University in the Netherlands .
